meteorological towers & equipment

Whether you are starting from a blank slate or if you are an established wind farm operator, WINData's met towers and high fidelity, real-time data loggers are the key to giving you deep, concrete insight into the wind patterns that influence your site's behavior.

Even the most seasoned expert can only estimate the potential of a site. Creating a quantitative assessment of your site's potential is an important step in the valuation and development potential of your site.

WINData installs tilt-up met towers to each customer's specification. Selecting the proper height is important and WINData will select the appropriate size and instrumentation for your site. Common heights include 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 80 meter towers. Taller, non tilt-up 100 meter towers are also available for either permanent or temporary installation.

WINData also installs met towers for permanent sites for use in forecasting purposes. Combining real met data from locations that are upstream from a wind farm allows operators to get a critical preview of the weather that is heading toward the farm. This allows them to participate more effectively in their respective markets and also reduce the impact of an unexpected ramp event on the production of power for their farm.

WINData's real-time data from these met towers works right alongside an operator's SCADA data and can be used in the most sophisticated forecasting models, thus insuring greater accuracy and advanced warning about pending weather patterns.

Manta Ray Anchors

WINData uses Manta Ray anchors for all its tower installations.  These anchors are specially designed to be driven into the ground, not augured or torqued, requiring no hole to be drilled or dug.  The anchors are placed without disturbing or displacing the soil.

Unlike other anchoring systems, MANTA RAY actually compacts the soil around itself - a clean, safe and simple operation.
